Red Nose Day Grants Available for Work with Children and Young People

You wore the red nose and watched the programme so now apply for the money!

comicrelief40% of money raised from Red Nose Day goes to projects in the UK to help poor and disadvantaged people tackle a range of problems and turn their lives around. Comic Relief is encouraging Scottish charities and community groups working with young people to apply. They welcome applications from all sections of the community, including groups who face added disadvantage or find it particularly hard to get funding.

Work with young people is at the very heart of Comic Relief and there are four funding programmes aiming to make a real contribution to young people.

* Young people (aged 11-21) with mental health problems

* Young people (aged 11-21) with alcohol problems

* Young people (aged 11-21) abused through prostitution and trafficking

* Young people (aged 11-21) affected by domestic violence

Under these main grants programme, awards can be made for up to three years (in some circumstances 5 year funding is possible) and are usually between £5000 and £100,000. The next closing dates for applications is 8 June 2007.

Guidelines and application forms available from www.comicrelief.com. They strongly advise applicants to use the self-assessment form and read the guidelines fully before applying.
