2009 Choose Life Annual Summit

Dr Trevor Lakey, Emma Hogg, Richard Leckerman, Dr Cameron Stark, Patricia Russell, Dr Stephen Platt and Phil Chick at the Choose Life annual summit 2009                            Dr Cameron Stark presents on recent Scottish suicide research at the Choose Life summit

Choose Life held its 2009 annual summit on 18 and 19 March 2009 at the Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor. It brought together Choose Life Co-ordinators, national partners and stakeholders to share activities and experiences over the last year, and review national and local progress on Choose Life. While suicide rates in Scotland have declined by 13% since the launch of Choose Life in 2002, those in the most deprived areas in Scotland have a suicide risk double that of the Scottish average and young men continue to be at greater risk. Following on from last year's summit, Choose Life looked to further explore aspects of inequalites which may lead to suicide and discuss the ways in which they can be tackled.

The 2009_Choose_Life_Annual_Summit_Programme contains an outline of activities over the 2 days, details of the parallel presentation sessions and speakers' biographies.

The official Summit Report summarises all the presentations, including those from the national team and the plenary speakers. An evaluation appendix is included which reflects delegate feedback.
