Local action plan - Aberdeenshire
Suicide Prevention activity in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire is planned and delivered in line with the Suicide Prevention Strategy 2013 / 16. The main focus of the steering group is to work with partners to deliver and implement the new Suicide Prevention Strategy.
Examples of activities undertaken in 2014 / 2015 are:
- Scoping feasibility and working with local police and others to obtain and share real time information to track trends (including clusters), mitigate risk, share best practice and target resources appropriately.
- Align the Communications Strategy and Action Plan to focus awareness activity towards high risk groups such as middle aged males by extensive use of media, attending events and shows and regular surgeries at libraries etc.
- Deliver training to gatekeeper groups who are likely to come into contact with people at risk of suicide.
- Engage with professionals to develop innovative technological avenues for the provisions of information to people at risk of suicide.
