Local action plan - Angus
A Choose Life Coordinator covered both Angus and Dundee until August 2013. There are now two separate posts.
Angus and Dundee (CLAD) recently commissioned an independent evaluation of suicide prevention work across Angus and Dundee. The final evaluation report was published in March 2013 and a specific working group has been established to take forward the recommendations contained within the evaluation.
SUICIDE? HELP! APP
This app is the first of its kind in Scotland and indeed the UK and is an innovative way for people to gain knowledge of suicide prevention and ways of seeking help without having to engage with mental health services. This app is available for iPhone, iPad and Android and is also now a webpage.
At the moment the following specific projects receive funding in Angus:
Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) - Community Support Network
SAMH is currently establishing Community Support Networks across Angus to support people who find themselves caring for someone who has suicidal thoughts. Through these networks SAMH will seek to provide information and guidance whilst bringing people together to share experiences and gain support.
Angus continues to deliver SafeTALK and ASIST, which is open to anyone in the Angus area.
