Local action plan - Glasgow City

Glasgow City’s action plan takes account of the National Suicide Prevention Strategy and reflects its five themes outlined below:  

A Responding to people in distress

B Talking about suicide

C Improving the NHS response to suicide

D Developing the evidence base

E Supporting change and improvement

In addition Glasgow City has signed up to working towards achieving the Living Works Suicide Safer Communities Award, which is based on the 10 pillars below. These pillars provide a structure for reviewing actions and accomplishments in achieving a suicide-safer community designation:

2. Community Needs Assessment and Action Plan
3. Mental Health and Wellness Promotion
4. Suicide Prevention Awareness
5. Training
6. Suicide Intervention Services
7. Clinical and Support Services
8. Suicide Bereavement
9. Evaluation and Dissemination
10. Capacity Building and Sustainability
