Action on Addiction: Action on Addiction is a UK research charity dedicated to seeking new ways to prevent and treat nicotine, alcohol and drug abuse.

ADFAM: ADFAM National runs the National Telephone Helpline for the families and friends of drug users offering confidential support and information to anyone who is worried about someone close to them using drugs. Also produces publications including booklets for parents, partners and children of drug users, a booklet for families of drug using prisoners and a guide to setting up a family support group.

Centre for Alcohol and Drug Studies: Paisley Universities social science department dedicated to offering flexible study courses in the area of drugs and alcohol.

Centre for Drug Misuse Research (University of Glasgow) : The aim of the Centre for Drug Misuse Research is to conduct high quality, policy relevant research on the problem of drug misuse within Scotland.

Drug Misuse in Scotland (ISD): This site provides information, statistics and research on drugs misuse in Scotland.

Drugs Prevention Advisory Service (Home Office): Home Office site dedicated to drug prevention. Has links, articles and publications.

Drugs: What Every Parent Should Know: This guide lets you know the facts about drugs and how they are used.

Know the Score: Know the Scores is Scotland’s drugs information gateway providing information for young people, parents, relatives, friends and communities. Know the Score sits at the heart of a network of drugs-related services and organisations which provide information and advice on drugs issues.

Lifeline Project: The principal activities of the company are to assist persons and their families and dependents affected by the misuse of drugs and to provide a training and advisory service to persons and organisations who deal with the misuse of drugs and sexually transmitted diseases.

Release: Provides a range of advice and information services in response to people requiring assistance with matters to do with drugs and the law. Primarily aimed at drug users, their families and friends. Also offer a range of specialist services to professionals and the public concerning drugs, the law and human rights.

SAD: Scotland Against Drugs Website.

Talk to Frank: National Drugs Helpline provides free confidential information and advice to anyone concerned about drugs and solvents. The helpline offers an advice service in a variety of languages.

Solvent Abuse

Re-solv: Re-solv’s site for young people.

Sniffing: Information about solvent and volatile substance abuse in a range of formats.

Turning Point Scotland: Turning Point Scotland tackles social exclusion by providing customised community care packages for people who have been excluded as a result of their mental health, learning disability, homelessness or their drug or alcohol misuse.

Alcohol

Al Anon: Al-Anon offers understanding and support for families and friends of problem drinkers, whether the alcoholic is still drinking or not.

Alcohol Anonymous: A national organisation offering help and support to people who are trying to overcome their drinking problems. Local groups throughout the country meet regularly to offer practical advice and fellowship. Publications list available.

Alcohol Concern: Website contains a wide range of information about alcohol.

Alcohol Focus Scotland: A national voluntary organisation for alcohol issues. Alcohol Focus Scotland is committed to improving the quality of people’s lives by changing Scotland’s drinking culture – promoting responsible drinking behaviour and discouraging drinking to excess.

Alcohol Information (Scotland): The Alcohol Information Scotland website provides a wide range of information on alcohol for Scotland. This includes statistics, research, publications, key policy documents and practice guidelines as well as links to useful websites. Up to date news is reported through daily media monitoring.

CARES-Dundee University: Centre for Addiction Research and Education Scotland. CARES is a Scottish based multi-disciplinary academic centre, integrating clinical, basic and social scientists, with the aim of delivering the highest quality healthcare and improving health outcomes to individuals and the Scottish community through the development of research and education in the field of drug, alcohol and tobacco dependence.

National Association for Children of Alcoholics: NACOA provides information, advice and support to children of alcoholics and people concerned with their welfare.
