Young People, Self-Harm and Suicide
Over 100 people attended the latest SIREN seminar, designed to inform both policy and practice on recent key findings in the field of 'Young People, Self-Harm and Suicide'.
The events, held in Perth on the 29th of October and Glasgow on the 30th October, provided key opportunities for researchers to link with a range of local stakeholders and gain useful insights into current practice issues.
A report on the seminars, which contains issues raised in the table discussions from the two seminars along with copies of the speakers presentations, is now available from the downloads menu below.
The SIREN Seminar Series has been developed to allow further in-depth focus on current issues that impact on suicide prevention research and encourage a more active dialogue within evidence and practice. These events raised important discussion on the links between self-harm behaviour in young people and suicide risk.
Phil Eaglesham, Senior Project Officer for Information and Evidence, organised the events.
Phil said "I would like to thank everyone who utilised their passion, expertise and knowledge to made the seminars so useful.
"Our next events on February 27th and 28th focus on Suicide and Postvention, please view the
SIREN pages for details and a booking form."
"Further events with key themes will be delivered in 2008. These include a review by the Scottish Development Centre for Mental Health on the determinants of suicide and an evaluation of Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST). These events will continue to allow practitioners, researchers and policy planners the opportunity to engage informally and learn together."
