Assessment of Resource
Comments on effectiveness
'Good information and presentation on wide range of factors that influence mental health and wellbeing in men. Good for awareness raising of whole mental health and wellbeing issue'.
'But unsure how many 18-30 year old males likely to pick it up and read it and keep it to refer to unless in a clinical care setting'.
'Professionals have commented that it is good although others say it is too prescriptive e.g 'Do this, don't do that'- a bit evaluative.'
Strengths
'It covers many issues regarding mental health and wellbeing. If a book is labelled about suicide prevention or mental health this can sometimes put off the target group. The manual avoids that pitfall.'
'The booklet content has a Scottish focus.'
'The wallet card contains useful contacts'.
Weaknesses
'Booklet is quite large, so not easy to be inconspicuous with it. Wallet card more subtle.'
'Some consider it too directive as though there is just 'one size fits all'.'
