Discussion Document Launched by Scottish Government

'Towards a Mentally Flourishing Scotland: The Future of Mental Health Improvement in Scotland 2008-11' is a discussion document building on the work of the Scottish Government's National Programme for Improving Mental Health and Wellbeing.

The document outlines the proposed future direction for mental health improvement and population mental health for 2008-11.

'Scotland: Creative Nation' cultural summit

'Scotland: Creative Nation' is a unique three-day summit, hosted by the Scottish Arts Council, designed to be a platform for exploration, discussion, and debate of pertinent issues in the context of the development of Creative Scotland.

Suicide, Self Harm and Mental Health: The experiences of LGBT People in Fife

Date: 9th November
Venue: Town House, Wymessfield, Kirkcaldy

This event will disseminate the findings of local qualitative research on the mental health issues and barriersfacing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in Fife. Workshops will process a local way forward for the challenges that the research identifies and a drama event will provide personal testimony of local lived experience. For a place contact:

"More than a Methadone prescription…?": A one-day conference on 'wraparound' drug services"

Venue: The Teacher Building, St. Enoch Square, Glasgow

This open event, hosted by the Scottish Drugs Forum, focuses on 'wraparound' or comprehensive support and will be of particular interest to service users, service providers, policymakers and academics engaged in a wide range of fields engaging with problematic drug users.

Mental Health Week: Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival

To mark Mental Health Week (8 - 15th October) Glasgow will host the first ever Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival. A variety of different events are taking place across Glasgow and Lanarkshire, ranging from stand up comedy shows, feature films, debates, live music, art exhibitions, creativity workshops and stories of recovery.
