20th September
Lothian and Borders police officers are being issued with a new guide on handling cases of suicide and self-harm. The guide will help frontline officers intervene early in situations where youngsters are deliberately injuring themselves or likely to take their own lives.
Well? What Do You Think?
Findings from the 2006 'Well? What do you think?' survey were published today, 20th September. This is the third run of the survey, first commissioned by the Scottish Government in 2002, which helps to inform and measure the work of the National Programme for Improving Mental Health and Wellbeing.

To mark Suicide Prevention Week (10-16th September 2007), the Proclaimers unveiled a bold artwork that aims to bring suicide firmly into the open and highlight that "talking and listening can save lives".

Living Life to the Full is a powerful new online resource which helps people to develop key life skills. It has been written by a psychiatrist who has many years of experience using a cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) approach and also in helping people use these skills in everyday life.

The website for the 12th European Symposium on Suicide and Suicidal Behavior (ESSSB12) is now live at www.esssb12.org. Through the site it is now possible to register online as well as submit abstracts for possible inclusion in the programme as oral, poster, workshop, symposium or round table presentations.
