SIREN Workshop Series

"Key stages in sharing and presenting suicide research"

Date Held: January 17th, 2008

Trainer: Dr Lynne Friedli

The SIREN Workshop Series was developed to encourage practitioners to better inform suicide prevention research and instil a more active dialogue between evidence and practice.

This training was designed with the 12th European Symposium on Suicide and Suicidal Behaviour in mind, to be held in August 2008 in Glasgow. View the 2nd Announcement and the 23 abstract themes here on the esssb12 website. This presents an opportunity to showcase Scottish work on suicide prevention from a practice and service perspective.

Free training was offered to key stakeholders in practice and service development on emerging evidence to inform both this key conference and presentation or publication of future suicide prevention research. The training aimed to support practitioners to:

  • critically assess their own research and that of others
  • identify dissemination opportunities
  • prepare high quality abstracts
  • present key findings and respond to feedback

The evaluation from the event is available for download below and indicated a very positive and helpful experience for the participants who attended:
